From Monday 18 May, Young Greenwich online youth sessions will be open for young people across the Royal Borough of Greenwich to access.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, its youth hubs have been closed from Saturday 21 March until further notice to help ensure the safety of young people in the Borough. Alternative activities and sessions have been created to give young people further support and provide positivity & entertainment.

The online sessions are aimed for young people to have fun in the comfort of their own home through a variety of areas including:

  • Digital Media
  • Skills for Life
  • Careers & Employment
  • Music
  • Arts & Culture
  • Sports

Similar to their physical youth hub experience, these sessions will give young people the opportunity to connect with friends, get advice & support and have the option to check in one-to-one with their youth workers.

In addition to the Lockdown Youth Parties (on Instagram for young people and Facebook for parents & families), young people will have a variety of options to choose from every week from our youth hubs & partners. From live cooking sessions to music battles, dance workshops to boxing fitness, all sessions will take place online, on either of the following platforms: Zoom, Instagram, Facebook or YouTube.

Young Greenwich is offering 1-to-1 support for young people. These sessions aim to help young people through check-in with youth workers, mentoring, support with their mental health, physical health and wellbeing through Young Greenwich partners Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust and Metro Charity.

In partnership with Metro Charity, Young Greenwich is also offering sexual health workshops for young people over the age of 16, providing them with sexual health information and support. These sessions will start from Thursday 28th May.

A variety of topics will be covered including Sexually Transmitted Infections, Contraception, Your Body, Pleasure and more. Workshops will include activities, discussions and quizzes plus the opportunity to ask questions to a Sexual Health Young Greenwich Worker.

Initially sessions are open to young people who are aged 10-19 or up to 25 for those with special educational needs or disabilities (SEND) and who live, work or study in the Royal Borough of Greenwich. We will check that you are a member before you are given access to a session.

All sessions are free.

We will shortly advertise the process for how new young people can register with Young Greenwich and access these sessions.

To sign up to our sessions, have a look at our timetable, which will be updated regularly, and book. After you have booked online, we will follow up with details of how to access the sessions.

We are creating these sessions as a safe online space for young people. If you are a parent/carer, once your young person is set up and ready to join a session, we kindly ask that you don’t join in sessions with them and allow them to have their own online space. Our youth workers are fully qualified and will support your young person throughout the session.
